2007 Recap
We got Saturday started around 9:30am with our first scenario "Blind
setup". Blinds were set up on the tables and not only did players need
to think both about the terrain and how they would deploy but how their
opponent would.
For lunch, we suprised everyone with pizza, chips and soda.
Round
Two "I hate that guy" saw generals meeting their untimely end for big
victory points. Round 3 "Capture" had players trying to capture two
strategic spots on the center of the table. This round was a tough
round for several players as it was for the top spot of their Band.
The
night ended with the painting and presentation judging. We saw some
very well converted, painted and themed armies. Our winner Michael
Schmitz had the highest WOW! factor with his Minotaur army, Congrats!
Sunday
we dropped the Bands and seeded everyone on their Battle Points.
Players who earned the scenario bonus points, moved ahead of their
competition and never looked back. Round 4 was "Chaos Unleashed!" and
I'm sure a few players felt a bit more chaotic after their encounter
with the Warp.
Round 5 was a straight up pitched battle. Our top four generals fought to a standstill, earning draws at both tables!
We
ended Buckeye Battles 2007 with an Awards ceremony with a ton of door
prizes, everyone got something from regiment box sets to new measuring
tapes. Mike Marko got our Barbarian Sword and Nathan Van Allen was
awarded the Warhammer. Nate Kelley retired his dwarves with his rubber
mallet, but received our Best Sportsman Award which earns him a free
registration at any Indy GT on us!
Congratulations, see you in 2008!
